Peptide-resin was deprotected with TFMSA/dimethyl sul-fide/TFA (1: 3: 5) at0 C for 2 h, and the resin was washed with dichloromethane and dried in vacuo. The peptide was removed from the resin with TFMS A/thioanisole/m-cresol/TFA (1: 1: 1: 10) at 0 C for 1 h, and the supernatant was precipitated andwashed with diethyl ether. The peptides 026-39 and 026-40 were dissolved in DMSO and purified by RPHPLC (purity> 90% by isocratic elution). The peptides 026-42 and 026-43, due to their insolubility in water, were purified by gel permeation HPLC in hexafluoro-2-propanol (HFIP)(Hendrix et al., 1992).
