Troglitazone (TGZ), a member of the thiazolidinedione class of anti-diabetic compounds and
a peroxisome proliferator activator receptor-γ (PPAR-γ) agonist, restores systemic insulin
sensitivity and improves the full insulin resistance syndrome in vivo. The mechanisms
